 Dr. Lea Harrell Kirkland is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S in Biology in 1982 and earned an M.D. degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston South Carolina in 1987. 

She completed a residency in Internal Medicine in 1990 at the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. and served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine in 1991. Dr. Kirkland worked for two years in private practice at Forsyth Internal Medicine in Winston Salem, N.C.  

She completed a general psychiatry residency in 1997 at Wake Forest/Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem and a fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry in 1998. 

Dr. Kirkland was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1991.  She is currently board certified in both General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. 

Her practice focuses on the outpatient treatment of adults, children and adolescent patients using a combination medication and psychotherapy as indicated.
